Hi Lyon,
end of june could be a quite good period to have a trip in the Alps. But, as it is a mountain area, the weather could change quickly, so keep your raining clothes close !
About the roads, you have the famous "Napoleon"'s road, N75 in the south of the Alps. Then get to the north by the N85, which is quite good too, as I remember.
In the north, all the area under the lake Leman is good too.
You can prepare your roadbooks using google street view, that's what I've done for my trip on the isle of Man, in May.
As it is not the summer holidays in France, you should find a bed quite easilly. And for lunch, you should stop quite everywhere and find a restaurant with good meal.
I hope you like cheese, because there are famous cheeses there !

I think some specialists about the Alps could answer you with more details.

Hey there.

Been in the Alps last summer, and it was definitly a great destination for bikers. Been there in august, and we, indeed, had a few rainy days. I don't know much about the roads really. We just drove anywhere we wanted to, not paying attention to any roadtrip. Some roads were great, some other were really old and damaged, but only a few. I think that most of the road out there are pretty good, and it shouldn't be hard to find some nice " twisty roads for sport riding". However, I really think that these road ain't made for 1000+ bikes. I had a 2008 R1 back then, and it was sometimes a real pain for sport driving. These roads are made for 400~600, such as a KTM 690 duke <3
I cannot talk about the accomodations but it shouldn't be a problem indeed, as you're going in June.
The Annecy lake deserves a stop, but you probably know it already.

I'm uploading some of the vids I made there to show you what you can expect.

The R1 is still awesome and you'll probably enjoy as I did. I'm not saying that it's gonna be rough, but I would recommand a Street Triple instead

Despite its good motor, the R1 is HEAVY ! But the 1000 FZS is probably not really better. Maybe a little bit. But is it worth the privation of a R1? :teuteul:
